President-elect Joe Biden appears to have taken a dig at Trump's famous red-cap slogan "Make America Great Again" using a hat of his own.

His comeback: A cap with "We Just Did" and the number 46 clearly embroidered across the top.

Biden was elected as the 46th President of the United States on Saturday after a gruelling, close-to-call voting count, with Trump yet to concede defeat.

Now, eagle-eyed fans have spotted the new president's subtle jab at his opponent in his wife Dr Jill Biden's celebratory social media post.

Dr Biden shared an image of the couple gleefully holding up a sign reading "Dr and Vice President Biden live here", a reference to Biden's two terms as Vice President to Barack Obama from 2008-2016.

The new First Lady's hand is placed over the word "vice" to commemorate her husband's latest achievement.

The navy baseball cap worn by Biden reads "We Just Did" with a number 46, which has been interpreted as a statement on Trump's signature "MAGA" hat.

"I didn't even realise Joe Biden's hat was a response to Trump's MAGA cap y'all!" tweeted one person.

"Biden's new hat!! Absolutely love to see it," wrote another.

Many fans asked where they could purchase the statement piece.

"Where do I find it? I NEED it," tweeted one person.

Trump has come under increasing pressure from his own Republican party and family to admit defeat following the weekend's results.

The former President has launched several lawsuits against states he did not win in response to the election.

Former Republican President George W Bush urged Trump to admit his defeat, adding the election had been "fundamentally fair".

"No matter how you voted, your vote counted. President Trump has the right to request recounts and pursue legal challenges, and any unresolved issues will be properly adjudicated," he said.

"The American people can have confidence that this election was fundamentally fair, its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear."

Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris will be sworn in as president and vice president at the US Capitol building in Washington D.C. on January 20, 2021
