Banana 'prank' left US teacher fighting for her life

A teacher in the US was left fighting for her life after three students pulled a horrendous prank.

Students at Starling K-8 school in Columbus, Ohio were all made very aware of the art teacher's severe allergy to bananas.

There was even a sign on the door to remind any students that had eaten a banana before entering the classroom, needed to wash their hands properly.

So, when a 12-year-old and two 13-year-olds from the school decided to smear banana on her door knob and throw banana peel at the teacher, it was a 'prank' that went too far.

Within 15 minutes, the teacher went into anaphylactic shock and two EpiPen shots failed to work.

The teacher was rushed to hospital and Columbus Police attended the scene, with a school security guard telling the officers: "That could be attempted murder".

"All of the kids know she's deathly allergic to bananas," he added.

"She starts to change colours," the security staff told police, who captured the chat on their body cam.

"They gave her one EpiPen; It wasn't working. They gave her another EpiPen (and) her throat was starting to close up."

The seventh-grade students were up for expulsion and faced a juvenile court following the November incident.

The teacher thankfully made a full recovery following the life-threatening 'prank'.
