Pet parrot dobs in owner as murder suspect

A US woman has been convicted of murdering her husband after the couple's pet parrot tipped off police about the moment he was shot.

Glenna Duram, 46, was found guilty of the first-degree murder of Martin Duram, who was shot five times in 2015 and later found dead in their Michigan township home.

The wife survived a bullet wound to the head in what prosecutors claimed was a suicide attempt.

Family members who were caring for the couple's African grey parrot named Bud said the bird seemed to replay the murder by mimicking what sounded like a man begging for his life.

The parrot took it even further by allegedly playing out the argument that happened before Martin was shot.

"Don't f---king shoot," Wood TV reports the bird as saying.

While Bud wasn't used as a witness during the trial, the prosecutor did reserve the right to use the bird as a potential piece of evidence, but the pet wasn't needed.

Glenna was found guilty of the murder of her husband and will be sentenced on August 28.

Bud the parrot remains in the care of family and friends.
