An American parenting influencer has revealed she accidentally ran over her toddler son in a "nightmare" accident that's left him hospitalised.
Kelly Hopton-Jones, a pediatric nurse practitioner and mother of two who posts from her Hillside Farmhouse Instagram page and blog, told her followers son Henry was in hospital and issued an urgent warning to fellow parents.
Detailing "the worst day of our lives" in an online post, she revealed Henry was left with fractures to his pelvis but is on the mend, and recalled how the incident happened.

"Today has been the worst day of our lives. Life can change in the literal blink of an eye," she wrote in her post to her more than 63,000 followers.
"A true nightmare for a parent happened to us today."
Hopton-Jones said she was taking her daughter Lillian out to get food before a dance performance when she accidentally ran over Henry, who was in the garage.

"Brian [Hopton-Jones' partner] was staying home with Henry and was going to meet us there," she said.
"He helped Lily into the car and was waving goodbye between our car and Henry, who was in the garage.
"In a matter of seconds, our son was run over by our car. I was driving."
She revealed their neighbours rushed to the scene to help before the couple took Henry to hospital.
''X-rays of his legs, chest and neck are all normal. CT scan shows no injury to his organs or spinal cord. Neurological exam has been reassuring with no signs of head injury or impairment," she wrote.
"He does have fractures to his pelvis that will take time to heal as well as a few abrasions.
"We keep replaying it, trying to understand how this could have happened when we were right there. I don't have that answer."
Hopton-Jones urged parents to "hold hands" or "hold" their children around cars.
"I can't even let my brain fully go to how different this situation could be right now," she added in her caption, before sharing a video of Henry smiling while receiving treatment in hospital.
"We could drive ourselves crazy with the what ifs, and honestly, we are a little bit. But accidents happen," her caption added.

"We're on the lucky side of a very tragic accident."
Her post got more than 31,000 likes and 1.8k comments.
"Completely terrible! That's the definition of accident - so thankful that he will recover. Sending prayers for your momma ❤️," one comment read.
On the Hillside Farmhouse website, it reveals the couple are renovating a farm house in Texas.
In a recent video from last month, Hopton-Jones takes her son to lunch.
"Any other moms tired of the imaginary pressure. Do more. The laundry isn't finished and put away? When is thr last time you cleaned the toilets? You know that nap is your only time to work. You're having a margarita by yourself… on a Tuesday afternoon?" she captioned it.
"Yes. We're going to stop taking life so serious around here, and I hope it inspires you to do the same.
"Because guess what, you only get that ketchup face smooch or hold your little boy for a dance on an empty dance floor for so long. Everything else can wait. #motherhood."
