An Irish job ad seeking an office worker has been slammed for stating "people with young children need NOT apply."

It appeared on recruitment website Indeed and had been posted by an unnamed Dublin oil company.

The ad stated that it was looking for a "person for answering phone and computer skills" with "a good knowledge of Dublin."

The ad has gone viral on Twitter, with outraged women slamming it for discriminating against parents.

One Twitter follower suggested it is "surely illegal" which according to discrimination laws in Ireland, is correct.

"Yes, that is illegal," another responded. "@EHRC will want to see this."

Colleen Hennessy wrote, "Absolutely can believe someone wrote it. I know this is the caveat for the half the jobs I have applied for but usually it is coded with "must be available for long hours" or "deadline driven environment" when I know the jobs don't really require either."

"Assuming Dads are fine as they'll only be working 9 to 5 then popping home via the pub and getting in when their dinner is on the table, while the wife is looking after those pesky kids," another Twitter user wrote.

"This is terrible," Claire Moran commented. "And I’m 2018 for gods sake, shows that this company have a long way to go..."

"A disgrace, wouldn’t want to work for such a discriminative company," said Freestyle Social.

In Ireland it is unlawful for someone to be discriminated against based on their family status, so it IS illegal.

The ad has since been taken down by the job website.
