Adorable New Zealand couple announced retirement from social media fame

The New Zealand grandson and grandmother who stole hearts after a video of the two dancing went viral, have touched a cord with thousands again as the pair announce 'nanny' is retiring from social media fame.

Jarryd Stoneman, 24, is the main carer to his grandmother, Katie Thomas, who has Alzheimer's disease and can't walk unassisted. In March last year Stoneman posted a video dancing in the kitchen with his nan to Lukas Graham's song 7 Years.

The New Zealander said "she can't remember much but she still knows how to move."

The video went viral and the two have since become social media stars, with Stoneman posting regular updates on Facebook.

This week the young New Zealander announced his 94-year-old grandmother would be retiring from public life in the online world, with the pair farewelling fans in a Facebook video.

"We've made the decision it's time for nanny to retire from Facebook fame," Stoneman said in the video.

"I just think it's the right time for her to just park up and get out of the public eye... You're getting tired hey, my nan?"

Stoneman said it was time for his grandmother to relax at home, with the support of his mother, sister and himself. In the bittersweet video, the 24-year-old said "for now it's goodbye".
