The best notes left by neighbours in dispute
As long as humans have walked the Earth, there have been disputes over living conditions.
With cities becoming increasingly congested, these issues have only gotten worse.
Here are some notes that have been exchanged between neighbours disputing everything from noise to parking issues.

A disgruntled neighbour has taken to Reddit to share a note he left for another tenant in the building who kept parking in his assigned spot.
"Someone's parked in my spot twice already," the post was titled.
"I work nights and I guess one of the neighbors noticed, because they've apparently helped themselves to my assigned parking space on two different occasions now (that we know of)," the author explained.
"I posted this note on their windshield and sent an email to management as well."
Then he asked Reddit users if he should be worried about "some kind of retaliation from the spot-stealing neighbour."
"I'm not a big fan of confrontation, but I also don't like the idea of someone just helping themselves to our assigned parking spaces, thinking they're entitled to it just because I may or may not be at work that night."
The author confessed he was "new to apartment living" and concluded the post with a plea for advice.
Reddit users were quick to flood the comment section and share their thoughts on the neighbourly disagreement.
"I would have left a quote for a tow truck instead of a note 'I just saved you $___, there will not be a next time,'" one suggested.
"Why leave a note? They know they are not supposed to park there. Tow tow tow," another added.
"So much for nice neighbours," this person wrote on Reddit sharing a note that had been left for them.
The user had moved into their new apartment complex a little more than a month earlier when they found this note on the windshield of their car, they explained.
It read, "If you don't live here, don't park here otherwise your tires will be slashed."
The problem... they did live there.
Commenters on the post immediately pointed out the simple complication with the request.
"What logic is there in slashing somebodies tires when you want their car to move?" wrote one.
An apartment resident who left a note on a noisy neighbour's door is having second thoughts about the move.
They share on Reddit's 'Apartment Living' thread: "I left this note on my neighbour's door who occasionally blasts music.
"I called to let my mum know (I basically talk to her about everything) and she made me feel really bad. She said, 'Why are you leaving notes on people's doors!? I hope this works out for you.'"
Her mother's response has left her feeling doubt over the move. She has asked Reddit users for their feedback adding that her social anxiety has ramped up over the mini-crisis.
One Reddit user described the note as "polite" and maybe a little "condescending."
Another said the fact it is written on pink paper and includes a heart makes it more palatable.
One said the use of the phrase "can we please be mindful" as the most problematic.
"Nothing wrong with the note it was very nice," one said.
Another pointed the blame firmly at the noisy neighbour, commenting: "It would rub me the wrong way to have to live next to a neighbour who blasts their TV and music all day."
Neighbours in an apartment building were faced with a baffling notice from their landlord, who provides a "berry bowl" to residents.
"As you know I place fresh berries in the berry bowl each morning for your enjoyment.
"Well did you know I use an AI camera to track who takes which fruit?
He then provided a breakdown of who took the most of each fruit, with the most being 56 blueberries taken by a neighbour named Devon.
He was spotted in the CCTV footage taking three of the 56, along with Carleigh, who took two strawberries and a single grape.
"No one's in trouble, I just thought it would be fun to let everyone know this ranking," wrote the landlord.
He added below in even smaller font, "I use the data to know which berries to buy. It's fine for me to do this. If you live in my building I can use your data."
Those who saw the notice online couldn't decide how to feel about it.
"I can't decide if this is wholesome or creepy..." said one.
"To be fair, I'd let them get away with a lot if they gave me free plums every day," added one commenter
"Imagine having that much time on your hands," one remarked.
A townhouse complex resident has expressed regret at having slipped a note under a noisy neighbour's door, fearing it will "escalate" the situation.
They share on Reddit's 'Apartment Living' thread that they often hear banging coming from a neighbouring townhouse, and after being woken once more, they penned the "irritated" missive.
"Our bedroom walls sit right against one another and on occasion (sometimes while trying to or sleeping) I've heard what sounds like she is just pounding her hand or an object directly against the wall," they explained.
"This will usually happen from the hours of 5:30 AM to 7:30AM. I assume perhaps she is getting ready? But don't understand why she would be banging directly against our shared wall the way it sounds," they shared.
"It happened this morning and woke me up out of my sleep and so in a slightly irritated woken up out of sleep state I wrote a note and slipped under her door on my way to work."
Feeling regretful, they have asked Redditers for advice on how to proceed.
They were quickly assured the letter was "well-written" and "a very nice note with no hostility."
"I mea,n that's nicer than most," another said.
Another suggested they make a compliant to management rather than direct communication.
The resident gave an update on the situation and it seems they have gotten the outcome they wanted.
"UPDATE: she read the note, no note or response was given back but last night and early this morning was very quiet!" they reported.
So perhaps the message wasn't poorly received after all.
A woman was left shocked when she returned to work to find a mysterious note left on her front door.
Taking to Reddit, the user posted a photo of a note that she says is "clearly written by a child," asking her to be quieter.
The user explained that she had had previous "issues" with her neighbours and said she knew what family it was coming from.
"We've had issues with them before, like back during Xmas," the post explained.
"They would send their teenage daughter to tell us to keep it down if we walked in our apartment after like 10:30pm.
"We don't do laundry past 9:30, nor run the dishwasher. Just walking. Community quiet hours start at 10pm."
The user says she and her sister both work odd hours, which means that sometimes they walk around late at night.
Walking late at night is allowed in their building: "Last Xmas, our leasing office sent out a mass email reminding tenants that walking noise is a part of apartment living."
The note she was left reads: "Hello this is a note to ask to keep it down. You are to loud everyday [sic]. It would be nice to be able to sleep for once.
"I don't know how a person can be this loud all the time, like get a job. I thought you had an elephant."
The Reddit user later posted an update: "I went to leasing office with the note, and they already knew who I was talking about.
"Said they have issues with them already, and are 'trying to work out loose ends.' They also told me I'm totally fine, not to change anything or worry about it.
"They are also thinking that it is a child, the girl specifically," her update concluded.
One Reddit user commented a suggested reply: "Thank you for the note but please tell your parents to be grown adults and not send a child to their dirty work."
A noise dispute in an apartment building has escalated into some hand-written notes fastened to a communal door.
The notes have been shared on Reddit captioned, "I moved into this building at the end of May, I'm not the tenant in either apartment involved, just sharing some anonymous apartment building drama!!"
The first note reads: "To all tenants! Quiet time is 10pm to 8am. That means no vacuuming, no loud music, no sliding furniture, you have 14 hours to do what you have to do that's plenty of time.
"I don't care who you are you're not going to keep me from sleeping. I'm 73 years old and I have health issues along with the lady in apt 2."
A tenant who took issue with the note responded: "I work 3 jobs to afford to live in this overpriced roach motel. So I don't need someone else's dad telling me what times I can move around in MY apartment.
"The walls and ceilings are thin, not my problem.
"I'm not loud or disrespectful, but we can explore what that looks like if you want. My lease doesn't say anything about silence from 10-8. So when you start paying some of my bills I'll follow your made up rules.
"I'm sorry you're 73 with bad health. Maybe it's time for an old folks home.
"Stop leaving me notes, you're grown."
While some Redditers agreed it isn't unreasonable to ask for quiet from 10pm to 8am, others agree with the respondent.
"It is if they work a different shift. When I'm sleeping during the day, I'm not getting pissy at people for continuing to live their lives. It is absolutely unreasonable to expect someone in a shared space to follow made up rules," one said.
A 25-year-old new homeowner named Ashley Brooke was shocked when she received a note written in red from a "nasty neighbour"
"Mailboxes go in a straight line!" it read, "Maybe you should be a little more thoughtful of the people who have lived here 25+ years.
"Don't move in and be a problem and make obstacles for others."
Ashley had only put up her mailbox two days before receiving the note and belatedly realised it was sticking out.
She did intend to move it back, but reconsidered after the neighbour "messed with the wrong b---h".
