Ahead of Matthew's 21st birthday his mum, Kim Robinette, took to Facebook to ask friends for a little help celebrating her special needs son's milestone birthday.

“Matthew turns 21 this week and I want to do something special for him this year. One of Matthew's favorite things to do is to watch parades. So I want to give him a birthday parade,” she wrote.

What started as a request for 10 or 15 people to drive past their house and honk their horn as a little parade for Matthew, turned into a community-wide extravaganza.

Kim's original Facebook request was shared 1,500 times and led to line of cars, motorcycles, trucks, fire engines, police cars and even a marching band.

The parade went on for over an hour-and-a-half, with the unofficial vehicle count at about 350.

“It was almost like going to Disney, but it was right here, it was coming past him and he was loving it,” Kim told local news station, WishTV.

“If I could have bottled up that giggle, I mean it’s priceless. You can’t put anything on it because it’s priceless,” she added.

Neighbours in Anderson, Indiana, all came out of their houses to line the street and many locals delivered balloons and gifts to make Matthew's day extra special.

"It's been overwhelming, the response," Kim told Fox News, explaining: "Since he can't go out, we thought we’d just bring the party to him."

While Matthew's brother Chris got a little emotional seeing the community support for his younger brother.
