'You should lose weight then': Mum's embarrassing experience trying to return pair of jeans
Shopping for jeans can be unforgiving, particularly when you consider the fact sizing can be so different across brands.
One mother has found this out the hard way during a recent shopping trip.
Preferring not try them on in store, she chose a pair of jeans in the size she has always worn, but when she tried to put them on at home, they didn't fit.

What happened next has left her reeling, as she explains on Mumsnet's 'Am I Being Unreasonable' forum.
The mum says she returned to her "local well-known supermarket" where she had purchased the jeans, asking the cashier for a refund as "unfortunately they don't fit".
"She took them, laughed and said, 'You should lose weight then,'" the woman recalls.
"I kind of giggled in embarrassment, and got away as quickly as I could. I was very, VERY upset and had an awful weekend," adding that she has BPD (borderline personality disorder) and doesn't know "if my reaction was a normal one, because I don't always have 'normal' reactions'".

She writes: "I'm 42, size 20, struggling with an autoimmune issue (which the doctors can't pin down) and menopausal. I am TRYING to lose weight but it's just not happening at the moment."
The mum then confesses: "Her comment broke me."
Her friends have encourage to make a formal complaint about the cashier and commenters on Mumsnet agree.

"Totally unacceptable. I would complain in these circumstances," writes one.
Another says: "I am so sorry you have gone through this and whole heartedly agree with your friends. You are lucky to have such supportive friends unfortunately the next unfortunate person to deal with that idiot may not have a support network and could be the icing on the cake."
"Yes do," says another. "This is awful and most people would have felt bad after such careless remarks. Totally normal."
"I would definitely complain that's awful," adds another.
