Chef creates 6-to-1 healthy grocery shopping method that also reduces your supermarket spend
A chef has shared his simple 6-to-1 grocery shopping hack that helps supermarket shopper save.
Chef Will Coleman has demonstrated the shopping technique in a video shared on his social media channels.
Coleman told People he created the method to "get people back to shopping more" and to help them "create homecooked meals" rather than eating out.

"It's designed in a way to cut costs because when you're shopping in the store, some of the higher ticket items are prepackaged or processed items," he continued.
"Fruits and vegetables are usually on the lower end of things and they can stretch beyond one meal. You can be way more creative about what you're putting out in the kitchen, and of course, it's healthier as well."

In the video we see Coleman partner up with content creator August DeWindt who runs the channel @theres.food.at.home.
He writes in the video description customers select "six veggies, five fruits, four proteins, three starches, two saucy items, and one fun thing for yourself."
During this shopping trip Coleman and DeWindt select onions, carrots, lettuce mix, thyme, spring onions and mint.
Their fruit choices seem to cross into vegetable territory but include plantains (a tropical starchy fruits related to bananas), cucumbers, peppers, capsicum and limes.

They choose four proteins comprising of two kinds of fish, plain yoghurt and eggs. Their three starches are burger buns, rice and frozen waffle fries.
For their two sauces Coleman and DeWindt selected Yuzu vinaigarette and coconut milk. For their fun items the pair chose their favourite drinks.

The total of their grocery shop following this method came to US $69.37 ($106.55).
From these ingredients Coleman and DeWindt created two meals including tuna burgers and fish in coconut rice in multiple servings to feed your whole family.

"This is what I've been doing for over a year and you're right! I avoid buying processed snacks for health reasons but I also save soo much!" another shared.
