Old receipts, catalogues and menus that will make you yearn for simpler times
There's nothing quite like discovering an old receipt from days gone by to remind you just how expensive the world is now.
These unearthed receipts, catalogues and menu items from the '00s, '90s and '80s are making us all truly yearn for simpler (and more affordable) times.

Aussies are shocked at the blast from the past brought on by this Coles receipt dated back to 2005 – almost 20 years ago!
The shopper from Wallsend, NSW bought a whopping 33 items for just $77, with one commenter nothing that there was "Nothing over $5, incredible."
"What a time to be alive," said one.
"Just the top 5 items on that recipe would equal about $77 now," another pointed out.
"Milo is pretty much double for 10g more, 460g is $9.80 not on special," one calculated.
"They're eating us alive now!" a shopper commented.
Ahh, those were the days.
The 1990s were simpler times where you could nab a pair of thongs for just $2.97 or a packet of shortbread for less than $2.
This old receipt from Big W in Australia, which dates back to 1992, was shared onto Reddit and has reminded us all just how inflated prices have become.
It seems the shopper from 32 years ago picked up a range of items, including snacks and clothes, and managed to spend under $50. An almost impossible task these days!
The original shopper had visited Big W Whitfords, a store in Western Australia.
Plenty of commenters were amazed at the prices, marvelling at how much things cost back in 1992.
"The fact that you could buy a pair of shoes for almost the same price as two bags of chocolate coated peanuts seems insane," one person wrote.
"43 cents for 2 biros? That really was a million years ago," another noted.
With the enormous cost of groceries ever-inflating these days, it's hard to remember a time of reasonably priced food.
However, one Aussie's incredible find has transported us back in time to when our groceries were a little bit more affordable.
Posting in the Facebook group 'Old Shops Australia' one man posted a receipt from 1992 that he had stashed in a book, and some eagle-eyed Facebook users spotted a small detail in the receipt.
"I found this old Coles receipt from 1992 being used as a bookmark in an old book over the weekend… the snags were probably 1kg packs and the chips were probably my favourites, Smiths salt and vinegar," the man wrote in the Facebook post.
The post was accompanied by a picture of the Coles receipt which came from a Pennant Hills chain in 1992.
On the receipt, two kilograms worth of white onions cost $2.48 at the time, a big bag of chips for entertaining also retailed for $2.98 (a far cry from the $7.20 you can be charged nowadays for an even smaller bag of chips).

A grocery receipt from 1992 has laid bare just how much supermarket prices have increased.
The receipt, from a Safeway store, was shared on Reddit's 'Australian Nostalgia' thread.
The receipt shows seven items including milk, ricotta, bananas, eggs and Cadbury chocolate purchased at a Safeway store, a subsidiary of Woolworths.
The total of the items is a reasonable $12.10.
When compared with Woolworths prices today, it shows a more than 50 per cent increase in prices.

This sobering receipt from a Burger King in America was shared onto Reddit and laid bare the huge increases fast food prices have faced over the last few decades.
The hungry customer managed to buy three whoppers, two fries and two drinks for just $7.98.
This Macca's shopper from 1992 was able to buy two meals and a coffee for just $3.74.
The old receipt was shared onto Reddit, with commenters left gobsmacked at the incredibly cheap menu prices.
"60 cents for a coffee wow," one person noted.
"Ah, the good old days," another reminisced.
This old Kmart receipt from 1991 may be faded, but we can still see just how affordable the prices were.
The shopper, who visited 33 years ago, bought some microwave meals at 88c apiece, some shoes and some yarn – and only spent a meagre $14.16.
An old Lotto receipt from 24 years ago was found tucked into a book.
This particular Lotto ticket cost just $2 and put the shopper in the running to win a whopping $6.5 million.
It seems Tesco, a supermarket chain in the UK, is also making British shoppers yearn for simpler times and more affordable prices.
This unearthed receipt from 1997 shows the now-unheard of prices for groceries, including some cooking oil for only 53c and Cola for 23c.
With oil prices in supermarkets skyrocketing, this receipt is really making us wish we had a time machine.
