Aisle Files: The $28 Bunnings bargain that will save you at the checkout
There are certain supermarket items that take way too much from my grocery budget, and one is laundry liquid and detergent.
I do two loads of laundry most days, not including when I do all the bedsheets.
Even buying the most affordable laundry liquid and detergent takes away from food I could buy from my family, and I'm not sure how effective some of the cheaper products are.
For this week's Supermarket Sleuths I went in search of a solution, and I found it at Bunnings.

The store sells a range of laundry liquids and powders in bulk and as we all know, bulk purchases help us save, particularly with products we use so much of.
This week at Bunnings I found popular laundry powders Cold Power and Vanish.
They also have in stock the laundry liquids Surf, Dynamo and OMO. For those looking for fabric softener, Bunnings is selling Cuddly and Comfort.
So, how do these prices compare to Coles, Woolies and Aldi?

Bunnings is selling Cold Power powder for $28 for a 5.4 kilo pack, which works out to be $5.19 per kilo.
Coles is selling the same in a 2 kilo pack for $24, which costs $12 per kilo, the same as Woolies.
At Bunnings, Surf laundry liquid costs $21.49 for 4.9 litres, which is $4.39 per litre.
Coles and Woolies are selling Surf laundry liquid in a 4 litre container for $18.00, which makes it $4.50 per kilo.

At Bunnings, Dynamo laundry liquid is priced at $27.68 for 5.4 litres, at $5.13 per litre.
Coles has Dynamo laundry liquid on sale at $25 for 4 litres ,which comes in at $6.25 per litre.
Woolies has it on sale at $20.50 for 4 litres, which works out to match Bunnings at $5.13 per litre.

At Bunnings, OMO laundry liquid is $30.00 for 4.2 litres, $7.14 per litre.
Coles has OMO in 4 litre packs for $45.00 which costs $11.25 per litre. Woolies has OMO on sale for $31.50 for 4 litres which brings it to $7.88 per litre.
For those who want to boost their wash with a scoop of Vanish, at Bunnings, Vanish laundry powder is selling for $20.99 for 3 kilos, which is $6.76 per kilo.
Coles and Woolies are both selling Vanish laundry powder at $11.50 for a 1 kilo pack.
And for extra soft clothing, Bunnings is also selling fabric softener, although white vinegar reportedly does the same at a much lower cost.
At Bunnings, Cuddly fabric softener is marked as $15.25 at 5 litres, which is $3.05 per litre.
Coles is selling Cuddly fabric softener at $7 for a 2 litre pack which is $4.50 per litre and Woolies is exactly the same.

At Bunnings Comfort fabric softener is $19.49 for 3 litres at $6.50 per litre.
Coles is selling Comfort in 2 litre packs at $14 each which is $7 per litre, and this is the same price you will find at Woolies.
