Aldi has been named Australia's Supermarket of the Year by Roy Morgan for a sixth year in a row.

This is despite the discount grocery retailer reporting slowing growth in its latest sales results, which were released on April 29.

Aldi is the most-awarded supermarket in the prestigious awards, with this latest win marking its ninth overall.

Spanning 40 categories across a wide range of industries, this annual award is given to the organisation in each category that achieves the highest number of top monthly customer satisfaction ratings over the past 12 months.

The German retailer's profits fell almost 20 per cent to $337.4 million, compared with $417 million in 2024.

This is reportedly due to slowing sales growth and higher wages.

Coles and Woolworths have proved to be competitive against Aldi's low prices in their latest sales results.

Both supermarkets reported significant increases in sales of their own brand ranges, having invested significantly in them in their efforts to attract customers looking for lower prices.
