Michelle Obama announces hubby Barack Obama is her first podcast guest

The first guest of Michelle Obama's new podcast will have a familiar presidential voice: Barack Obama.

The former United States president will appear on The Michelle Obama Podcast on Spotify, the Obama's Higher Ground and streaming service announced Friday. The podcast will debut worldwide and exclusively on the streaming service on Wednesday.

In the premiere episode, the former first lady and her husband will hold an intimate conversation about community, the love that powers relationships and life after living eight years in the White House.

"For eight years my life was full of crazy schedules, juggling big initiatives, speeches, state dinners," Michelle Obama says in the first episode's intro.

"Not to mention trying to raise two daughters and keeping my head above water. But once Barack's second term ended, the presidency was over and finally had some time to breathe."

Guests set to feature on series one of the podcast include: Michelle's mum Marian Robinson, her older brother Craig Robinson, TV host Conan O'Brien and Dr. Sharon Malone, wife of former US Attorney General Eric Holder.

"I don't want this podcast to be prescriptive… or present anyone's ideas as truth," she says in the episode.

"I just want it to feel like we're sitting together on a park bench or in the booth of a restaurant with the jukebox playing. And most importantly, I hope this podcast sparks ideas and topics that all you listeners can open up with in your own circles."

The Becoming author is set to focus on "the relationships that shape us, from siblings and close friends to partners, parents and mentors to our relationship with ourselves and our health."

"My hope is that this series can be a place to explore meaningful topics together and sort through so many of the questions we're all trying to answer in our own lives," Michelle Obama said in a statement announcing the project last week.

It's the first podcast from Higher Ground, the production company founded by President Barack Obama and Michelle, after signing an exclusive multi-year deal with Spotify in June last year.

The production company also inked a deal with Netflix on the TV side of things, with its first offering – a documentary on Michelle's Becoming book tour – released on the streaming platform in May.
