'Forget Best and Worst Dressed - this is the red carpet ranking we need in 2021'

Okay, so today I want to talk about the Met Gala.

I think it's an absolute joy, and I love nothing more than seeing the outrageous and incredible outfits. It's the only event in the world that brings together actors, models, sports stars, socialites. This year's theme was 'In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion'.

What disturbs me is that in 2021, we still have people doing Best Dressed and Worst Dressed lists. If you type 'Met Gala Worst Dressed List 2021' into Google, there are 102,000,000 results.

Just stop it! If you don't like an outfit… scroll on. Don't rank and comment and be mean. We are in a global pandemic, so let's celebrate the fact these people are out of the house and entertaining us in lockdown.

What I think we should do is change the way we frame things when it comes to something like the Met Gala. It's supposed to be a spectacle. It's supposed to be fun. It's supposed to fit a theme.

We need to come up with different ways of showing what we think about outfits in a positive way. Who took the biggest risk? Who wore the outfit you want to wear once lockdown is over? Which is the outfit you wished you'd worn to your school formal?

Instead of tearing people down, judging them and basically being mean, I think we need to celebrate uniqueness and we need to celebrate risk takers.

There's nothing better than being part of the fun, rather than being an armchair judge; no one wants to be the two old Muppets criticising everyone.
