Melania Trump makes first official appearance on husband's campaign trail

Melania Trump has made a rare public appearance alongside her husband, former US president Donald Trump.

The former first lady supported Trump in announcing his third run for the presidency at Mar-a-Largo in Florida on Tuesday. 

Melania attended in an Alexander McQueen shirt dress, her outfit completed with a Chanel handbag and Christian Louboutin heels.

Whilst she was there she hinted at an upcoming role in his 2024 campaign trail.

A reporter asked Melania if she intended on returning to her husband's presidential campaign, whilst the pair were casting their ballots in Florida's Republican Primary. 

"Stay tuned," she replied.

Since Trump's previous presidency ended, Melania has remained mostly out of the public eye; she has also been absent from his recent campaign trail.

Similarly, Melania had made an appearance at her husband's campaign launch in 2022, but didn't join him for his various court appearances, rallies or victory speeches in early primary states and Super Tuesday. 

The last time they were seen publicly together was in January, at the funeral of Melania's mother.

Trump recently addressed Melania's notable absences on Fox News, saying she is focused on raising their 17-year-old son, Barron Trump. 

"Her life revolves around that boy, [he's] so important to her," he said.

"At the same time, it also revolves around our country and the success of our country. She's raised a lot of money for charity."

"She's a private person," he added.

"It's funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She's going to be out a lot, not because she likes doing it, but she likes the result. She wants to see this country really succeed."
