The Duchess of Sussex's best friend, Jessica Mulroney, has posted a poignant message to mark the start of 2020 and a new decade.

Taking to both Twitter and Instagram, the stylist shared a lengthy and powerful quote, with a mantra she seemingly plans to see through this year.

"2020 is all about letting go of the bad and letting in the good," the 39-year-old said on Twitter.

The quote encourages people to let go of "anger, grudges, extra stress or pain" and to "make 2020 a year of forgiveness and a season of positivity".

Many praised Mulroney for sharing the "inspiring" quote.

"Wise words to always remember and to live by...," one person said.

"Thank you for these words of wisdom to start the year," wrote another. "Wishing you and your family a healthy and happy New Year."

"Words to take to heart," one other said.

Meghan's best friend has fallen victim to severe online trolling this year and been forced to defend herself on a number of occasions.

Most recently in November last year the mum-of-three hit back after she was criticised her for posing in a swimsuit.

After receiving the unwarranted backlash Mulroney posted a message seemingly in response to all the hype following the swimsuit photo writing: "Note to self. Never ever post another picture of myself in a bathing suit. Only wear parkas by the beach".

She also added: "Apparently a picture in a bathing suit is offensive to my career, some followers and my children. So guess what... I don't care. Thank you to my strong followers who just get it. Everyone else, get a clue."

Earlier in 2019 the Canadian stylist also shed light on mental illness, detailing her "debilitating" struggle with panic attacks.

"Panic attacks are a nightmare. The terrors, I used to call them. Impossible to explain how very debilitating they are," she said on Instagram in August.

"So many suffer yet we still live in a world where this is not shared enough.

"Living with mental illness is not a choice and can lead to debilitating circumstance."
