Trooping the Colour: Meghan Markle makes first appearance since giving birth

Meghan Markle has made her first public appearance since giving birth to baby Archie Mountbatten Windsor.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex led the carriages leaving Buckingham Palace to the Horse Guard's Parade for this year's Trooping the Colour.

Joining them was Kate Middleton and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall in a carriage, while Prince William rode on horseback as he is a royal colonel.

Meghan was seen wearing a navy blue outfit paired with a matching fascinator and clutch, while Prince Harry was in his uniform.

The Duchess of Cambridge wore a yellow dress with a matching hat.

Their carriage was shortly followed by Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice and the Duke of Kent.

Then the Queen left Buckingham Palace as the national British anthem began to play.

Her Majesty travelled solo in her carriage as the Duke of Edinburgh retired from public duty in 2017.

This year's Trooping the Colour marked Her Majesty's 69th time attending the ceremony – and her 66th time as the reigning sovereign.

This year the Grenadier Guards escorted the procession, led by the Duke of York.

The procession features over 1,400 soldiers, and is held annually in June to mark the official birthday of the British sovereign, which is currently Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

It's one of the few events of the year where royal fans are able to see members of the royal family all get together.

Especially when they all gather on the famous Buckingham Palace balcony to watch the Royal Air Force flypast.
