Married at First Sight audition tapes revealed

Once again, the nation is glued to Married at First Sight. We've all developed favourites and forecasted the participants’ chances of finding love.

But what did they have to say to get themselves into the experiment in the first place?

Talking Married's Shelly Horton has unearthed some cheeky footage from the MAFS archives, when potential bride and groom Heidi and Mike were initially quizzed about their intentions for signing up.

In her video, Heidi talks about turning 38 and deciding that it was time for something "crazy" to happen in order for her life to change direction.

"If I want to ever have babies and get serious about stuff, it's the time… I'm willing to risk for the reward. I think this is such a good experiment," she said.  

She also gave some insight into her dating past.

"I've had lots of boyfriends," said the Queenslander, listing off the 10 she's been in love with, three of which she lived with, and eight that were considered long term.

However, despite her extensive romantic experience, the radio host lamented that she'd never found a partner with whom she wanted to have a baby.

Her 44-year-old groom Mike shared a similar sentiment during his audition.

"I'm seeing couples get together and have wonderful lives," he told producers, adding that while he didn't necessarily want to be a family man in the past, the idea is growing on him. 

"You present me with a good, decent woman, I'll make it happen. I'm ready to pull the trigger,” said the adventurous tradie.

Despite his macho exterior, Mike painted himself as "a bit more emotional and sensitive," adding "I don't think women like that."
