Manchester bombing survivor thrilled to meet David Beckham at Royal Wedding
The Royal Wedding was a significant event on any guest’s calendar, but particularly so for one English schoolgirl.
Amelia Thompson, 12, was among 1200 members of the public invited to enjoy Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding from inside the Windsor Castle grounds.
It was the first crowded public event Amelia had attended since she was caught up in the deadly terror attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester one year ago today.

Amelia’s mother, Lisa Newton, nominated her to receive one of the special wedding invitations without her daughter’s knowledge.
“She has been through a lot and she has had a obviously a rough couple of years and since Manchester it has been really hard,” Newton tells Reuters.
A year on from the attack, Amelia is still receiving counselling and has undergone speech therapy for her vocal chords, which were damaged by her screaming.
The student was delighted, and "speechless", when she received the call confirming she was off to the Royal Wedding.
“It’s just really exciting and I feel really special that I get to go,” she told A Current Affair earlier this month.

Amelia said she did it to “put a smile” on Sharon’s face.
Though the prospect of being in another big crowd was a daunting one, Amelia enjoyed her day at the wedding.

However, the highlight for her had nothing to do with royalty - it was scoring a selfie with David Beckham, who attended the event with wife Victoria.
The footballer took a moment to pose for a photo with his young fan, making her day even more special than he could have realised.
