Internet divided over woman's husband sharing bed with a mate

It's pretty normal to share a bed with your best friend when you're having sleepovers as a kid, but one woman has been left "quite pissed off" after her husband did the same thing as an adult.

Writing on parenting forum Mumsnet the woman asked other users if she was being unreasonable by getting so worked up about the seemingly harmless incident.

In her post she explained that she had been away for the weekend and her husband had taken the chance to have a few mates over.

One of them decided to stick around for the night and ended up sharing the couple's bed with her husband, which the woman really wasn't keen on.

"We have other places to sleep," the woman wrote bluntly.

She added that she was "quite pissed off" about it, but that her husband thought she was being "wildly unreasonable" to be so angry about something as simple as bunking with a mate.

"I’d like to think our bedroom is a private space, let alone our actual bed," the woman explained in her post.

"He also didn’t tell me, I found out by accident - he wasn’t going to share this information!"

While most people wouldn't be too thrilled at the idea of someone else sleeping in their bed, it really doesn't seem like the end of the world and plenty of people were quick to tell the woman just that in the comments.

"I wouldn't be bothered," one wrote, "Change the bedding if you are [bothered]."

"You sound uptight and a bit precious," another criticised.

On the other side of the fence were those who agreed with the woman, plenty of whom took issue with the fact that her husband had let someone else sleep in the bed the couple share every night.

"No way, I wouldn't like that at all – invasion of privacy," said another.

Many also pointed out that the friend could have just as easily slept somewhere else, one writing: "It was invasive and f—king weird considering there were other beds made and ready."

Others still took the middle road, one user confessing that while they too would have found the situation a little odd, they understood why her husband would have let his mate sleep in their bed.

"I would have found that odd too, but thinking about it I would let a female friend share our bed with me if the situation was reversed, so really why shouldn't your [husband] offer it to his friend?" the Mumsnet user wrote.

"You say there are other places to sleep in your house. Would that have required them preparing the sheets etc.? I can imagine it got late, they had had a few drinks and just picked the easy way."

Some then countered that what may be considered normal between female friends wasn't always the same for men, one writing: "This feels like some kind of parallel universe."

"None of my male friends would ever share a bed with a male mate if there were other beds available. It’s just weird."

Who ever would've thought that two mates crashing in the same bed could cause such debate?
