Man's reaction to woman covering her drink on a night out goes viral: 'This is why we do this'
A TikToker has shown how a man's interest in her covered drink on a night out is the exact reason why women take the precaution in the first place.
User Chloë Dawson, who goes by @brocchloeee, shared a video of her holding a drink inside a nightclub. On top of the glass she's carefully placed a napkin, a measure to protect her drink from being spiked, or any other unwanted things that could happen.

While Chloë is filming, a man reaches over and pokes the top of the drink — demonstrating exactly why the napkin is there.
In the video text, she writes: "When a man asks why I'm covering my drink. … [Your] interest in my covered drink is the exact reason [what do you mean]!"
Fans have swarmed the viral video — which now has over 330,000 views — with all kinds of comments, many have shared their own precautions they take on a night out, or the "red flags" they're wary of.
"You literally just tried to put your finger in it. That's one reason," one user wrote in response to the TikTok.

"The people we have to explain why it's covered are the ones who we are covering it from," another commented.
"Buy the scrunchie drink cover so you don't have to grab random things to cover it," one person advised.
The cover the user is referring to is NightCaps' Drink Cover Scrunchie — designed to prevent drink spiking on a night out.

The scrunchie fits over a drink, covering the top of the glass with material so drinks can't be spiked. It has a small hole for a straw to be poked through so users can drink with ease.
The tool is $25 on Amazon, and while it might not suit all drink scenarios, it seems to be a gadget a number of TikTokers have invested in.
After watching the TikTok, some admitted they hadn't understood why people did this with their drinks before, while other users revealed they'd seen similar reactions from people when they covered their drinks.
"I covered my drink once because there were a bunch of people and I didn't want to spill and some dude was like 'Oh I see how it is'."
In response to this, one person wrote: "If a woman covers her drink it's not necessarily a sign she doesn't trust you. Better safe than sorry is how I see it, I've never been offended by it."
