Man 'marries' pregnant girlfriend who died in road accident

A Taiwanese man has reportedly ‘married’ his dead girlfriend after she was killed in a traffic accident while pregnant with their child.

According to The Mirror, Tsai Shang-chen placed a ring on Chen Yi-chi’s finger as she lay in her coffin during a funeral service this week.

The dental clinic nurse was five months pregnant when she died while riding her scooter home from work on August 26. 

Her unborn child was also killed.

Shang-chen, 30, and Yi-chi had been together for five years.

They were due to marry in October and had already had their photoshoot ahead of the wedding. The photos of Yi-chi in her bridal gown were used to decorate the funeral venue. 

During the ceremony, grieving friends and family held pink and white balloons the couple had intended to feature in their wedding.
