Man 'humiliates' girlfriend after recognising her 'actress' sister at Easter brunch

A man got the shock of his life after a routine get-to-know-you chat at Easter Sunday brunch at his girlfriend's house turned completely awkward.

Posting to Reddit, the man explained that he had never met his girlfriend's family before, but upon meeting her sister, was struck by how different she looked from photos he'd seen.

He says he felt that the sister looked familiar to him, so when it came to finding out what everyone did for work, he asked her.

She replied that she was an actress, and naturally, the man asked what she'd acted in, explaining that he recognised her face.

Little did he know, this simple question would be the absolutely wrong one to ask.

He says the moment he asked the question his girlfriend's brother "let out a cackle".

"[My girlfriend's] sister said she does commercial work and then changed the subject. About 10 minutes later her brother pulls me aside to tell me, his sister is a porn star," the man reveals.

"He said that she went viral after one of her scenes was memed to hell."

Completely mortified, the man explained that no-one in the family had thought to warn him before he sat down to brunch.

"In the moment I was very confused but I guess now I see why it was so funny. Her cousins also heard me say this and just started staring," he wrote.

To make matters worse, the man's girlfriend was less than pleased by the situation, and has been fighting with him ever since.

"She said that I embarrassed her by saying to everyone that I have watched her sister," the man says.

"I told her that I probably recognised her from a meme, but she wasn't having it. She was telling me that she doesn't know when she'll be able to show her face again and it was humiliating to have her boyfriend say that."

The man says he doesn't feel like the situation is completely his fault, and Redditors are siding with him.

"I'm 100% with you," one person wrote. "Your girlfriend should have warned you. What someone does for work is a common talking point when first meeting new people. If they didn't want you bringing it up, she could have said something and you wouldn't have said a word."

Another wrote, "He should have been warned that he might recognise her, especially if she's decently famous, went viral. It's not like it's a secret in the family."

A third person agreed: "That was an innocent response to someone saying that they're an actor/actress that was completely avoidable had your girlfriend given you a heads up."
