A man has left Melbourne locals fuming after he played a cruel prank on a struggling family restaurant.

The unidentified man placed an order for 21 meals worth $170 dollars from the business that was offering free delivery and payment upon arrival during the coronavirus pandemic.

He ordered a range of low-carb and healthy meals — 11 chicken and vegetable meals, five beef and vegetable meals and three pork and vegetable meals, each with rice.

He gave his address as 4 Gardiner Street, Lilydale and was sent a text saying: "Food is on the way."

When the delivery driver arrived at the address with the order he discovered he had been given a fake address.

After texting the customer: "Address you provided is not correct," he received the response: "I know. F--- heads."

The business hit back at the prankster, texting: "Thank you for letting a small local struggling business down by doing these kind of inhuman jokes. Blessings."

That's when the man doubled down, responding: "You stupid c---. No one wanna buy your s---. I have a housewife so I don't need your f---ing food."

The business responded: "God bless her. Thank you."

"I don't think people quite understand what a prank is vs just being an a--hole," said one.

"Wtf. Makes my blood boil," said another.

"Irked me that he didn't say he had a wife, but a housewife, like that's her whole identity. Feel sorry for her," said another. "She probably has to put up with this sort of stupid power game s--- too."
