Two doctors to accompany King Charles III on Australia tour

King Charles will be bringing along two very important people in his royal entourage as he heads Down Under next week.

The Times have shared that the monarch will be adding two doctors to his posse for his Oceania tour to Australia and Samoa, kicking off his visit in Sydney on October 18.

In addition, they claim that the same measures taken to protect the late Queen will be in place for the King, such as travelling with a supply of his blood to ensure an exact match should a transfusion be needed.

The trip includes "a number of concessions to prevent him from being overworked," according to the outlet, with the monarch being "monitored closely during the visit."

The travel itinerary has been designed "with the King's health in mind," the publication said, adding, "The King and Queen will have a rest day, and there will be no evening engagements."

Historian and author Hugo Vickers told the Times, "I'm sure that the medical team has been consulted and will look after the King and make sure that he doesn't overwork, as we know he has a propensity to do.

"I'm sure he wouldn't be undertaking the trip unless he was fit enough to do it."

King Charles will temporarily stop his weekly treatment for cancer during the royal tour, it has been reported.

The monarch has been given permission by his doctors to pause his weekly cycle later this month.

He will receive treatment until his departure, and resume outpatient appointments when he returns to the UK, the Daily Mail reported.

The King will be visiting Australia for the first time as sovereign and head of state, and His Majesty's first to a Commonwealth country as head of the organisation created by his late mother.

In Sydney, itinerary highlights include time on Sydney Harbour for a Fleet Review of the Royal Australian Navy, along with a visit to the Opera House.

The King and Queen will attend a community barbecue in western Sydney, in what is expected to be one of the more colourful events of the tour, highlighting cultural diversity and food producers from across NSW.

In Canberra, the King and Queen will lay a wreath at the Australian War Memorial and attend a reception with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at Parliament House.

The King will also undertake several engagements relating to cancer including a meeting with Australians of the Year Prof Georgina Long and Prof Richard Scolyer, who were recognised for their pivotal work on melanoma, one of Australia's most common cancers.
