Kate Middleton and Camilla react to the Royal Wedding announcement

A day after the news of Prince Harry's engagement to Meghan Markle, it seems the royals are back to regular business with both Kate Middleton and Camilla stepping out on official duties.

The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in London at the Foundling Museum on Tuesday but stopped to chat to reporters on her way in, revealing she is "thrilled" by the Royal Wedding news.

"William and I are absolutely thrilled and it's just such exciting news," Kate Middleton said.

Wearing a black printed pleated skirt shirt dress, the Duchess looked ready to get down to business as she spent time with children and did some arts and crafts.

Meanwhile, Meghan's soon-to-be mother-in-law the Duchess of Cornwall told reporters in Stoke-on-Trent: "America’s loss is our gain."

Camilla, 70, added that she's "absolutely thrilled — it’s brilliant."

"We are all absolutely delighted. As you can see, they’re so happy. Sometimes in a climate where we’re surrounded by a lot of bad news, it’s a real joy to have a bit of good news for once."

The women of the family's reaction comes a day after the couple sat down for their first interview together with the BBC, with Prince Harry crediting his family for taking Meghan into the fold.

"You know I'd been seeing her for a period of time when I literally didn't tell anybody at all," Prince Harry said of introducing Meghan to the family.

The newly-engaged couple will waste no time getting on with the job, stepping into public life with their first official royal engagement together in Nottingham on Friday.

"Prince Harry is looking forward to introducing Ms. Markle to a community that has become very special to him," Kensington Palace tweeted on Tuesday.

"They will visit a Terrence Higgins Trust #worldAIDSday charity fair where they will meet representatives of organisations 

"Prince Harry and Ms. Markle will speak to staff and mentors @NottinghamAcad about the Full Effect programme which is helping prevent young people from turning to violence and crime."
