'She's coming back 100 per cent': New hope for Catherine, Princess of Wales to make royal return at Trooping the Colour

Royal experts have confirmed Catherine, the Princess of Wales will be "back to work" soon, sparking renewed hope she will make an appearance at Trooping the Colour this weekend.

"Everything I hear is that she will be back to work," Vanity Fair's royal correspondent Katie Nicholl revealed on The Sun's Royal Exclusive Show.

"She's coming back 100 per cent to pick up as Princess of Wales and do the great work she was doing before."

Kensington Palace has not yet confirmed if Catherine will attend the annual parade, where senior working royals will come together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

She missed the The Colonel's Review, the annual rehearsal for the event, and sent her apologies to the Irish Guard in a personalised letter.

Until now, most royal watchers assumed she would also be forced to miss out on Trooping the Colour as she continues to undergo cancer treatment, but Nicholl's claims have left some feeling hopeful.

Catherine's absence has been keenly felt over the past few days as husband Prince William accompanied the King and Queen Camilla to France, where they marked the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

William cut a lonely, solitary figure at the sombre events , which he usually would have attended with his wife of over 10 years at his side.

"It's just all a reminder of how much weight and burden is falling to William," Nicholl said.

"And I think in all of this, it's a reminder that the Royals are just human like the rest of us."

Though she - and many other royal experts, including 9honey's own Dickie Arbiter - feels William is "playing the role of Prince of Wales brilliantly", his wife's cancer journey has undoubtedly taken a toll on the future king.

No doubt William wants to see his wife happy and healthy again after this long period of preventative chemotherapy and recovery.

Nicholl revealed that the princess "struggled with the treatment" initially, but has "turned a corner" in recent weeks.

While some fans might take that to mean she's well enough to make an appearance at Trooping the Colour this weekend, Catherine will have to wait for the 'all clear' from her medical team before returning to royal duties in any official capacity.

That said, Trooping the Colour would be an incredible opportunity for the princess to make her public royal return.

It's the biggest annual event in the royal calendar, designed to honour the King's birthday, and one of the few times the whole extended royal family comes together in public.

It would also be a relatively low-effort outing for Catherine, as she would only be expected to ride in a royal carriage and make a short appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

In years gone by, Trooping the Colour has been the monarchy's opportunity to present a united front and appear to the world as a family.

After a year packed with upheaval and two shocking royal cancer diagnoses, what better time than now to show the monarchy as a family united? That said, nothing has been confirmed yet.
