Karlie Kloss on the 'complications' of becoming a Trump family in-law

When model Karlie Kloss says “I do” to fiance Joshua Kushner, she’ll gain not only a husband, but a rather famous sister-in-law: Ivanka Trump.

While the two women appear to share a warm relationship, Kloss’ future link to Donald Trump’s daughter and her husband, White House advisor Jared Kushner, poses a somewhat awkward situation.

The 26-year-old made no secret of the fact she voted for Hillary Clinton, and has openly campaigned against President Trump’s policies several times, urging fans to do the same.

“At the end of the day, I’ve had to make decisions based on my own moral compass—forget what the public says, forget social media,” she tells the magazine.

“I’ve chosen to be with the man I love despite the complications.”

Just imagine the conversations that will take place around the Christmas dinner table this year.

Together, the couple attended the Women’s March, which was spurred by Trump’s election, and the March for Our Lives, protesting the lack of action in gun reform in America.

Following Trump’s election victory, the investor also went to great lengths to distance himself from the White House in conversations with the businesses in his portfolio.

"[He] said, 'I have no personal ties to this administration. I'm not responsible for their actions and won't be able to get you special favours,'" Slack CEO Stewart Butterfield told Forbes magazine.

Speaking to Vogue, Kloss reflects on how the political views she shares with her fiance have become an important aspect of their relationship.

“Josh and I share a lot of the same liberal values that guide our lives and the things we stand for,” she says.

“We’ve really grown together personally and professionally.”
