Kamala Harris' niece reveals sexist, racist criticism the Vice President faces

Vice President Kamala Harris's niece Meena has spoken out about her aunt's rise to power and the challenges she's faced along the way.

Meena, 36, who worked as a senior adviser in the Biden/Harris campaign and as Harris' presidential campaign in communications and fundraising, told The Times she was horrified at some of the things said about her aunty.

"Kamala was being critiqued as 'too ambitious' by an old white guy and I just felt, are you kidding me?" she said. "Are we still doing this? Are my kids going to have to deal with this same s---?"

The mother-of-two added that Kamala had been experiencing this her whole life.

"People said, 'You're too young. You're too much of a woman. Frankly, you're too black. That's never been done before," she said.

Meena also spoke about the influence Harris had on her growing up, explaining her mother gave birth to her when she was 17 and still in high school, meaning Kamala spent a lot of time looking after her.

"Growing up, I was taught that ambition is something to celebrate, that it means purpose and determination," she said.

"Having a big idea and running after it, chasing your dreams and having confidence in yourself."

Meena, who has two million followers on TikTok, was the creator behind a viral video of Kamala Harris that made a joke about Donald Trump's second impeachment.

In the video, which has over 23 million views, she hands a jar of lollies to her unsuspecting Aunt, explaining that they're "im-peach-mints."

Kamala then bursts into laughter, with Meena captioning the clip, "IMPEACH NOW."
