In the clip, Harris is asked if she is on TikTok, to which she responds, "well, I've heard that recently I've been on the For You page, so I thought that I'd get on here myself."
And she is absolutely right, Harris has recently taken over the social media platform.
Ever since current President Joe Biden announced he was dropping out of the running for the 2024 election and Vice President Harris announced her candidacy, the internet has done what it does best, flooding TikTok with edits from former speeches and explainers on what could now happen with the election in November.
In particular, a niche 'coconut tree' meme has resurfaced on the platform.
The meme was inspired by a 2023 speech given by Harris in which she references a quote from her mum.
She used the quote to explain that we are all a result of the experiences that surround us and don't exist in a vacuum, expressing the importance of thinking of yourself in the context of your community.

"My mother... would give us a hard time sometimes, and she would say to us, 'I don't know what's wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?'" she said, laughing.
"You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you."
The internet has taken grabs from the speech and remixed it over and over on social media, with Harris candidacy now referred to by some as, "Project Coconut."
