He's the first ever Australian to taste victory in the Super Bowl, but instead of celebrating his win during the post-game media rounds, Jordan Mailata cut his interview short.

The Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle skipped out on lauding about the history-making win on TV to instead celebrate with his wife.

"I'm on a time schedule, you know," he told reporters as he dashed off.

In 2018, Mailata left Australia and his rugby league career behind after he was picked by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL draft.

While the move to Philadelphia brought the Aussie fame and fortune – he just signed a new contract worth a $US22 million (approx $38 million) a year with a $US20 million (approx $31.6 million) signing bonus – he managed to find something much more valuable in his move.

The same year he made the move, Jordan was out for lunch with friends at Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market when he bumped into Niki Ikahihifo, the woman who would later become his wife.

Ikahihifo had grown up in Alaska alongside her sister Jade, raised by her parents Thomas Bender and Talita Ikahihifo – both of whom work in the medical field.

After high school she moved to Ohio to study before relocating to New York where she would complete her major in psychology. Then it was to Duke University law school for her legal education while also completing her masters in psychology.

On that fateful day in 2018, Ikahihifo was in town for her dad's 50th medical school reunion.

However, after running into Mailata, it seems she never looked back.

The pair began dating and four years later they returned to the exact same spot they first met.

When they arrived, Ikahihifo was greeted by an aisle lined with white roses and her soon-to-be fiancé standing below a flower arch.

"Went off the market at the market. 4 years to the day we met, at the place we met, by what I can only describe as fate," she captioned an Instagram post of the beautiful moment.

The next year, the couple exchanged vows in a stunning ceremony in Maui, Hawaii.

Ikahihifo looked like a real-life princess in a beige, strapless Oscar De La Renta gown covered in delicate ruffles all the way down the train.

But many say Mailata was responsible for one of the day's most memorable moments.

During the reception the NFL took to the microphone to serenade his wife with a heartfelt rendition of Stevie Wonders' Isn't She Lovely, as Ikahihifo took to the dance floor to take in the moment.

The couple have now been married for more than a year, regularly taking to Instagram to show their support for one another.

"From being the first draft pick with absolutely no American football experience to the first Australian to start in and win a Super Bowl," Ikahihifo captioned a sweet clip of her and Mailata celebrating on field after his win.

"Just unreal. Proud doesn't even begin to cover it."
