Ivanka Trump angered White House aides by attending Winter Olympics
Ivanka Trump is reportedly "grating on" White House aides with her ever-changing role in the White House.
The President's daughter led a US delegation to the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics in South Korea last week causing anger among West Wing staffers, CNNCNN.
The news site says many staffers close to the President saw the Olympics not just as a sporting event but as an opportunity for diplomacy between the two countries, as relations with North Korea remain tense.
"This isn’t like going to Italy. The stakes are far higher and more complex", an anonymous aide told CNN.
Ivanka is an advisor to her father and has an office in the West Wing — something that reportedly baffles other White House aides who say she flits between playing confidante to the President and his daughter when it suits — but has very little experience in diplomacy or foreign policy.
This wasn't lost on US skier Gus Kenworthy.
"Everybody here has worked so hard to make it to the Olympics and have the opportunity to walk in the closing ceremony! Well … Everyone except Ivanka. Honestly, tf is she doing here??," he tweeted.
Yesterday, Ivanka's husband and senior Trump advisor Jared Kushner had his security clearance downgraded, preventing him from accessing sensitive secret documents until cleared by the administration's chief-of-staff John Kelly.
