Nine things you didn’t know about Ivanka Trump

As Donald Trump prepares for his Inauguration, all eyes are on his family, including First Daughter Ivanka. While we know that the 35 year-old businesswoman is a fierce supporter of her father, there's still plenty to find out about Trump's eldest daughter. Here are nine things you never knew...

1. She once supported Hilary Clinton

In 2007, long before her own father was in the race to become president, Ivanka donated $1,300 to Hilary’s campaign. Her father also gave $6,500 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and $26,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in 2006.

Ivanka also unknowingly donated to Hillary Clinton's campaign just last year, when she ordered jewellery from a brand who donated proceeds to the politician. 

2. Her brother-in-law is Karlie Kloss' boyfriend

Ivanka's husband Jared's brother Josh is the long-term boyfriend of supermodel Karlie Kloss. During an interview with Esquire before last year's election, he said that he would not be voting for Trump. The article read: "Through a spokesman, he said he loved his brother and did not want to say anything that might embarrass him."

3. She considered careers as an actress and dancer.

As a child, she danced in The Nutcracker and later auditioned for the role of Cosette in Les Misérables on Broadway. In an interview with Us Weekly, Ivanka confessed that her audition “didn’t work out.”

4. She and Chelsea Clinton are/were best friends

They both live in Manhattan, both had similar childhoods and their husbands are friends, so it makes sense that Ivanka and Chelsea would hang out in similar friendship circles. When both their parents ran for president, however, many sensed a feud. Last year, Ivanka told Cosmopolitan.com: "I am absolutely friends with Ivanka and I am grateful for her friendship. And I'm always going to believe, because this is how my parents raised me, that friendship is more important than politics."

However, a couple of months later, things appeared to have changed. The two had reportedly decided not to be seen together in public, and their friendship appears to have taken a nosedive. 

5. She converted to Judaism before marrying her husband

Ivanka and husband Jared wed in 2007, but before they married, Ivanka changed her religion. In an interview with Vogue in 2015, she said: "It's been such a great life decision for me. I am very modern, but I'm also a very traditional person, and I think that's an interesting juxtaposition in how I was raised as well. I really find that with Judaism, it creates an amazing blueprint for family connectivity."

The couples' three children Arabella, five, Joseph, three and Theodore, 10 months, are also Jewish.

6. She has her own website

Ivankatrump.com has articles on work/life balance, cooking, fashion and - of course -  a section to buy her book, Women Who Work.

7. Her name isn't really Ivanka

She's actually named after her mother, who is called Ivana, but she has always been called Ivanka.

8. She's an early bird

According to an interview with Morningroutine.com, Ivanka wakes up at 5:30 every morning before meditating, working out, reading the newspapers and taking her children to school.

9. She will take on some of the First Lady duties when her father is President

Since Donald Trump's wife Melania will remain in New York when their son Barron is studying, Ivanka will take on some of the duties.
