The simple air fryer cleaning hack that's the only method you'll ever need
If you've seen the air fryer cleaning hacks doing the rounds on social media, you'd be forgiven for thinking the appliance needed all sorts of tricks to clean.
From adding water to the drawer and turning the air fryer on to using multiple cleaning products or using a dishwasher tablet, these hacks could be making the task harder than it should be.
It seems all you actually need to clean the air fryer drawers is just hot water and some dishwashing liquid.

That's according to the response one woman got when she asked the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group for "the best way of cleaning air fryer drawers".
"Hot water and detergent. Very simple," one said.
"Hot soapy water," wrote a Mrs Hinch fan.
"Wash the drawers after each use with washing up liquid and hot water," a woman said.
"Soak with hot water and washing up liquid as soon as you take the food out, then wash when you've eaten," another wrote.
Some who responded to the post said they'd had success using a dishwasher tablet and hot water.
But as someone who's tried both the hot water and detergent soak and the dishwasher tablet, I can tell you the hot soapy water soak wins hands down every time.
When I tried the dishwasher tablet soaking method, it turned into a disgusting greasy mess.
After I poured the water out, that greasy mess covered the air fryer drawers and made it even harder to wash. I was going to take photos to show you but the water was too yucky to be photographed and the oil wouldn't show up on camera.

You can put the drawer in the dishwasher, which I've tried and it works OK but pre-soaking in hot water and dishwashing liquid before washing it up in the sink works best.
If you want to add boiling water just boil it in a kettle and pour it in to soak. There's no need to heat the water up in the air fryer, that's a safety risk you don't need to take.
