Shoppers in a frenzy over Kmart's bargain dupe of popular beach cabana

Cabanas and umbrellas have been popping up all over Australian beaches this summer with swimmers keen to relax in the shade after a dip.

One brand dominating the sand is CoolCabana, which sells stunning enclosed shelters in a variety of designs.

But Kmart cabanas have had a sudden surge in popularity with shoppers comparing them to the more expensive but stylish beach shades.

Kmart's stripe cabana and tropical leaf cabanas are $55 each, and selling so well the latter design is currently sold out online.

That price is a bargain compared to CoolCabanas which sells it's large cabanas for $249.

Shoppers have been raving about the cabanas and discussing how they compare to CoolCabanas on Facebook group Kmart Mums Australia.

"Cannot fault the Kmart cabana. I had been looking at CoolCabanas but didn't love the price tag so I grabbed this instead and honestly it's the best," a woman commented.

"Bought one too from a recommendation on this page. They are terrific, just a smidge smaller than the CoolCabana ones," one said.

"We have been happy with ours, took a chance, smaller than others but better than my old beach umbrella," another posted.

Kmart fans seemed particularly impressed with how easy the cabana is to set up at the beach.

"We have the blue and white one and I can absolutely agree, so light and easy to put up and I love that the sides are velcro as much easier to get them in the sand," a woman wrote.

"Sooooo easy... we also have a tent and I can't for the life of me put that up, I could do this on my own it's that easy," commented another.

But not everyone was a fan of the Kmart cabanas or agreed that they were just as good as CoolCabanas' version.

"You get what you pay for... Sudden wind gusts and my friend's broke on the first use (the screw base snapped in half). We were battling with hers when lowered, but surrounded by CoolCabanas that were able to stand up to the wind. Personally wouldn't recommend," they admitted.

This isn't the first time Kmart has stunned shoppers with bargain dupes. Recently the retailer released a five-pack Mangiare pasta bowl set for $20, which shoppers thought was quite similar to the Round House's $80 green Italian bowl set.

And shoppers were excited to see a fully-length Hollywood mirror for just $279 when similar versions have been spotted for $999.
