'Much better solution': The $19 Kmart buy surprisingly perfect for new year's storage task

Christmas is well and truly over and the new year is officially here.

You may be one of the extra-organised people who took down their Christmas decorations on Boxing Day or maybe you're waiting until the traditional date to take them down.

If the Christmas tree is still up and your home is still spotted with tinsel and little Santa figurines, the time will soon come to pack them away.

It can be a daunting task, but this $19 Kmart storage hack can make it a little bit easier.

TikTok creator Chloe Cowpertook to the platform to share a clever solution for storing Christmas decorations.

"Guys I think I have found the best Christmas hack when it comes to storing all of the baubles and decorations off your Christmas tree," she said in a video posted to her following of more than 25,000.

Cowper explained that she had started taking down her Christmas tree but quickly realised that she had nowhere to store all her Christmas tree decorations.

She continued to share that she is aware that there are storage products that are "designed specifically for storing Christmas decorations but Christmas is gone and the stores are now empty of Christmas decorations and Christmas stuff".

And ordering something online will not do because she didn't want to wait for it to arrive.

So instead she made a trip to Kmart and found the perfect solution – one that's kind on the wallet too.

Cowper picked up Kmart's Linen Look Storage Box with Dividers and while it's designed to be used as a shoe organiser, she says its perfect for storing all the bits and bobs for her Christmas tree.

While it can be easy to chuck all your Christmas decorations loosely into a box to tackle next December, the dividers in this box make it so much easier to keep them all organised.

"Inside it has all different sections because it's actually designed to put like clothes or shoes or actual storage," Cowper explains.

"But instead I used it for my Christmas tree decorations."

The linen storage box comes with a zip lid to keep everything contained and a removable insert which can divide the box into eight separate sections.

Cowper demonstrates that she uses each section for the different categories of her decorations. In one section she stores her sentimental trinkets, in another she stores her Christmas tree skirt and yet another her tree topper and so on.

"I thought for $19 this was a much better solution than just chucking everything loosely in a container," Cowper explained.

"And again, I know that there are specific products designed exactly like this to store your baubles but if you don't want to order online or you're a bit late to it and there is nothing left to store, you can go and buy yourself a shoe organiser and it does the exact same thing."
