The 'amazing' $10 Kmart buy readers are obsessed with and no, it's not a book
Readers have been flocking to Kmart to pick up a handy accessory that's not in the book section of the store.
The travel item has been going viral on social media for months thanks to its handy use for storing nappy supplies, snacks and toys.
Now, it's causing a frenzy on in the BookTok section of TikTok thanks to its perfect size and shape.

The product is the two-pack packing cubes, which costs $10 and comes in white, pink, black and iridescent colours.
One of many book lovers to share how useful the packing cubes are for their novels is TikToker @grisssma.
"How amazing is it?! Keeps my books from folding, I know it doesn't fit all the books, but it fits most of the paperback ones…so super happy!! @kmart you did it again!" she captioned her TikTok video.

Another reader named Rosie agreed and showed how well some of her books fit in the packing cube in a video on her TikTok page @rosiiiie.
"Book girlies run, don't walk, to Kmart!!! These travel cubes are perfect for protecting your books in your bag," she said.
"Been looking for something similar for so long!!!"

Book fans loved the hack for keeping their prized-possessions in perfect shape.
"All hail book genius," one said in response to @grisssma's post.
"What a great idea!!!" a reader posted.
"A book protector? Sign me up," a shopper wrote.
"Okay this is smart," another commented.
Fellow readers were eager to snap up the packing cubes, if they hadn't already.
"Where inside Kmart? I swear I did 20 laps of my local that "had stock" and found none," one said before being advised to try the travel section of the store.
"Got one the other day and I am in love," a book lover wrote.
"I bought one and covered it in book stickers and had all my kindle accessories for when I went travelling!! Was so good," a woman said.
"Love using these for my books when I travel keeps them safe. I can usually fit two book's roughly the same size in one," another commented.

There were plenty of questions and comments about size and shape as larger novels won't necessarily fit or could have their corners slightly bent from the rounded corners.
"I need someone to make one with square edges. Cause the rounded edges tend to bend the book corners," one said.
"They need to do a bigger one for big books," a reader commented.

While the general consensus was the Kmart packing cubes are a brilliant hack for protecting books while on the go, some argued damage to a book can be meaningful.
"I love seeing the scuffs and folds on my books cos it reminds me they've been read and loved," a woman said.
Another wrote, "I love well read, well loved, battered books."
However, one person said they felt the same until spilling a glass of red wine in their bag which "ruined a few pages and soaked right through the spine", so a good cover does have its place.
