The $29 Kmart buy shopper claims is 'like an air conditioner' in scorching summer heat

With one heatwave already this summer and more on the way, we're all looking for cheap and effective ways to keep cool.

One gadget getting a lot of love from shoppers is the $29 Kmart misting fan, which has recently dropped in price by $10.

The fan creates chilled air thanks to a section that you can fill with ice cubes.

Adam Muncan is one of many TikTokers who have shared videos of the product on the social media platform.

In a video he said it "blows cool air like an air conditioner works effectively while it is 36 degrees outside."

The comments section showed reviews for the product were mixed, but those who liked the product seemed to find it very effective.

"6 months pregnant with 44 degree days and hot nights the only thing that helps me sleep and doesn't wake up stuffy. best investment," a woman said.

"I totally brought this yesterday it's the best!!!" a viewer commented.

"I bought this for the mechanics at my work a couple of months ago and they love it!" one said.

"Mines working wonders. I love it and my kids love it," another posted.

However, others said it was a bit noisy and works best when you are positioned in close proximity to it.

"It's only good when it's right in your face - great for my desk," one said.

If you're in need of a larger fan, Kmart's bladeless floor fan has also had shoppers in a frenzy.

The $99 product has a 4.4 star review rating on Kmart's website with one describing it as the "Best fan I ever had".

While fans are a great tool to keep cool in the summer heat and are typically less expensive to run than air conditioning, there are a few no and low cost hacks you should get in the habit of doing as well.

Closing the blinds and curtains during the day and using draft stoppers to keep hot air from creeping in under the door will ensure your home is as cool as possible before you switch on your fan.
