Hilarious image of a warped drink bottle is a reminder that not everything can go in the dishwasher
A lot of things can go in the dishwasher to get cleaned, but there are also plenty of things that can't.
One couple has learnt the hard way that plastic drink bottles are best washed up by hand when one shrunk after a run in the appliance.
A woman posted a side-by-side comparison photo of the warped drink bottle next to the an undamaged drink bottle in the Facebook group Kmart Hacks & Décor.
"Note to self: make sure you tell your husband not to pop your water bottle through the dishwasher! Lucky I got a second one on clearance for $4!" she captioned the post.

The bottle that went into the dishwasher looks noticeably shorter and slimmer than the other one, prompting both laughter and shock from those who saw it on Facebook.
It turns out the woman is not the only one who has made this mistake.
"I did this. Accidentally cooked both my sons' bottles," a mum said.
"Omg I did that. I couldn't figure out what drink bottle it was my daughter and I were in hysterics," admitted a Facebook member.
"The amount of times I've done this is actually embarrassing," another commented.

Some members of the Facebook group joked that it was still usable, but it's just "travel size" now.
The drink bottle, which is available from Kmart, comes with care instructions that advise it is "not suitable for microwave, dishwasher or hot liquids".
Plastic drink bottles are best cleaned in hot soapy water by hand, especially if they are not dishwasher safe.

In terms of plastics, the consumer advocate says whether it can go in the machine depends on the specific item.
"If it's not marked 'dishwasher safe', don't put it in the dishwasher. Dishwasher-safe plastics should go on the top rack to prevent them being melted by the heating element," the CHOICE guide says.

Most kitchenware products will say on the packaging and/or the product if it can be washed in the dishwasher.
Other items that can't go in the dishwasher include wooden chopping boards and spoons and chef knives.
