Coles' stunning Mediterranean-inspired dinnerware now in stores from just $7

Coles is embracing the Mediterranean dinnerware trend with a stunning new alfresco dining range from just $7.

The collection features designs inspired by the Amalfi coast with white and blue colours and patterns and classic lemon imagery.

In stores now, the range is part of the retailer's Best Buys which features a new range of products in stores every two weeks.

The collection includes servingware with an oval platter measuring 23.3cm wide and 43.5cm long, a serving bowl with a 25cm diameter and a round serving tray with a diameter of 30cm. All three are priced at $10 each.

There are also dinner sets, including a four-pack of bowls in two designs, a four-pack of side plates in two designs, and dinner plates in two designs. Each pack is priced at $10.

Both the servingware and dinnerware sets are made from melamine making them durable and break resistant, so they're perfect for use outdoors.

The dinnerware is also a fraction of the cost of other sets with similar patterns, with the Corelle Vitrelle 16-piece dinner set priced at $169.99.

Of course, no dinner set is complete without cutlery and Coles alfresco dining range includes a gorgeous 16-piece set, made of stainless steel with a gold finish.

For a special added detail there are ceramic bottles for olive oil and vinegar that will look beautiful placed on the table for people to add to dress their own salads with. They are $10 each and come in a plain white design and another with a blue Mediterranean-style pattern.

To complete the look, Coles also has a blue and white tablecloth in check and lemon designs for $7 and paper napkins for $3 a pack.

Also in store is a bamboo servingboard, which measures 65cm and costs $25, and to ensure a relaxed lunch with no reaching or getting up for more, there is a tempered glass lazy Susan for $15.

You'll also find decorative items to style the table with, tea towels and drinkware.

And to save you countless trips to the servo for ice, there is also an ice maker for $99. It makes eight cubes every 15 minutes, so there'll be plenty for all your drinks as needed.

Setting the table for summer entertaining adds a special touch to get-togethers that will have guests gushing about it long after.

While outdoor dining is often more casual, especially if you're having a picnic you can still make the table look special.

A theme is easy and already decided when you've chosen Mediterranean-inspired dinnerware, so you can add lemons along the centre of the table or in a bowl as decoration along with white flowers.

A tablecloth is recommended by entertaining expert Liz Curtis, who told marthastewart.com that they save a lot of hassle later.

"At the end of your party, the last thing that you want to do is spend time scrubbing your surfaces," she said. Instead, just pop the tablecloth in the washing machine and pre-treat any stains first.

Napkins are also a necessity and whether they're disposable or reusable, we all know even a light breeze can result in them flying everywhere.

So events expert Anthony Navarro has a top tip for where to place them.

"If you set the table with a charger or base plate, you can place the napkin under the plate and have the napkin hang down in front of the setting. This way, it will keep the napkin on the table," he told marthastewart.com.
