Woman's warning after trying popular oven cleaning hack: 'Do not do this'
A woman has warned against a popular oven cleaning hack that she says damaged her oven.
She shared a post on the Cleaning & Organising Inspiration Australia Facebook page, which has nearly half a million users.
Cleaning a dirty oven is notoriously difficult, prompting her to try this hack, which promises to clean the oven with no elbow grease.

The hack was shared on Grandma's tricks & Tips Facebook page last week. Facebook
"I wasn't able to find the original post, but this week someone suggested adding a dishwashing tablet with water to an oven for an oven cleaning hack," her post began.
"It was suggested if you place a tablet in water to a hot oven (oven is in) this would stream the oven allowing for a clean oven. I tried this today and can confidently say 'DO NOT DO THIS.'"
"It did not work, I should have known if a dishwasher isn't going to clean racks, trays in oven then to assume this will work for the overall oven was ridiculous," she explained.

"The fumes that come from the oven is awful, it also left a nasty white film all over the glass and base similar to what you get when you clean an oven with oven cleaner and use oven, only to see white patches everywhere where there's still product but can't be seen prior."
Using a dishwashing tablet to clean an oven gained popularity on the Facebook page Grandma's Tricks and Tips.
Some Facebook users were quick to try the hack, posting mixed reviews in the comment section.
"Tried this today on a very overdue for a clean oven and it works!! Absolute magic, loved it. Now the proud owner of a sparkly clean oven," one user wrote.

"It wasn't awful but required as much scrubbing as it normally would. I really wanted this to work amazingly but it didn't," wrote another.
The general consensus seems to be that this hack is very hit-and-miss; perhaps it's better to be safe and avoid it.
