The quirky hack that transforms your mop into a more powerful cleaning tool

Mops are already one of the most versatile cleaning tools out there, but you can actually make them even more effective with one quick change.

Cleaning expert Lynsey Crombie has shared a hack that gives the mop extra scrubbing power so it can be used on more areas.

In an Instagram reel she showed how she boosted her mop by adding a Scrub Daddy sponge.

"Want to add extra cleaning power to your mop and save your back? Simply squeeze a Scrub Daddy into your spin mop head to tackle grout, hard water marks, and limescale like a pro," she captioned the post.

Crombie started by making a hole in the middle of her string mop by pushing the strands of cotton to the side.

Then she dampened a Scrub Daddy and added dishwashing detergent before placing the sponge in the middle of the mop head.

Now you're set to get scrubbing and can use this on tile grout or glass shower screens, saving you bending up and down.

Cleaning the Scrub Daddy afterwards is quick and easy too.

"When you're done, pop him in the dishwasher for a little spa session, dry him off, and he'll be ready for round two," Crombie said.

The hack was a hit with Crombie's followers.

"Oh wow fabulous hack Lynsey thank you," a woman said.

"Oh I'm gonna try this fab idea," wrote one.

"Great tip! So much easier with the mop to reach all those areas," another commented.

Crombie is from the UK where she is known as the Queen of clean, is also a best-selling author and also makes frequent appearances on TV sharing her cleaning tips.

She also shares lots of cleaning tips on Instagram and TikTok including an important tip recently shared for making cleaning products work better.

"When you clean, do you spray and wipe right away, or do you let the product sit and work its magic? Leaving it for a few minutes gives the cleaner time to break down dirt and grime properly—making your job easier and the results even better," she captioned an Instagram reel.
