Grease-stained glass baking dish good as new with $3.95 cleaning hack
A grease-stained glass dish is now sparkling clean thanks to a simple homemade cleaning paste using products you probably already have in your kitchen.
Mindy Hyer's baking dish was looking worse for wear after non-stick cooking spray burnt onto the handles and edges. Grease and fat from food cooking can also cause these stains.
She found that no matter how much she washed the dish that grease just wouldn't budge, so she researched possible solutions and found one to try.

Hyer shared the process and results of the hack in a TikTok video.
"I've done some research and they're saying make a paste with Dawn dish soap and baking soda (bi-carb soda)," she said.
To make the cleaning paste in Australia you can use whatever washing up detergent you have on hand.
After applying the paste to the edges and handles of the glass dish, Hyer left the paste to sit for 30 minutes to an hour before scrubbing it with a small brush and some water.

During the scrubbing stage, Hyer was already pleased with the results with just a small portion done.
"This may have worked," she said.
The end of the video showed the glass baking dish transformed, with just a small amount of baked-on grease remaining on the inside of the handle.

Those who viewed the video had other suggestions for cleaning the dish including steel wool, soap Brillo pads or a Magic Eraser or using baking paper instead of non-stick cooking spray.
Whether you use this cleaning paste for grease-stained glass dishes or not, it is a good cleaning hack to know about.
The combination of baking soda and washing up detergent can be used for multiple cleaning tasks including grout, oven doors and polishing your stainless steel sink.
It's a good way to save money on cleaning products too, as baking soda costs $2.45 for a 500g if you buy the store brand at Woolworths or Coles.
Meanwhile, store brand dish soap costs as little as $1.50 for a 1L bottle so to purchase both supplies costs $3.95 if you don't already have them.
Depending on how big of a surface you need to clean you could get a few cleaning pastes out of one bag of baking soda and one bottle of detergent.
