The $0 bubble wrap trick one Aussie swears by for keeping warm in winter
We're only four days into winter and it's already freezing, but with the cost of living crisis we're looking for ways to warm up without using heaters to keep our power bills down.
Aussies on TikTok have been revealing all the clever and quirky ways they're trying to beat the cold after sustainability consultant John Pabon asked people to share their budget-friendly hacks.
The discussion follows Pabon's videos about Australian homes being so cold during winter.

"Let's make the conversation much more useful. Stitch or comment on this with your favourite inexpensive, realistic ways to keep your house warm this winter," he said in the TikTok.
"I'll start – my favourite, door snakes they're great."

So far there have been more than 300 comments with lots of helpful tips, including one from a woman who has found a way to reuse all that bubble wrap we get in packaging.
"Bubble wrap on windows! it's super easy to apply and fairly cheap to buy a big roll and just do all your windows - a diy double glaze and comes right off, it stays with static... yeah just spray some water and press into the window! (similar to any static window films) no mould or anything!" she said.
"Same! I recycle the same sheets each winter. Honestly makes 1-2 degrees difference which I'll take," another said.

Some recommend the old fashioned hack of leaving the oven door open once it's finished cooking so that the remaining heat can escape into the room as the oven cools down.
Another reminded us to run our ceiling fans in the opposite direction to disperse hot air around the room.
Meanwhile, one person has been getting crafty by turning polar fleece blankets into curtains to cover their Venetian blinds at night.
There were a few more curtain related tips, including just having them in the first place.
"Not always inexpensive but pelmets on your curtains (ie a lid/hood over the railing) otherwise warm air is pulled down and cooled against the glass," one said.
There was also a tip about heating yourself or the room you're in rather than the whole house.
And many people seem to be spending winter wearing their Oodies or using heated throw blankets.

But don't forget about the good old retro hacks for staying warm.
"Doesn't help the house exactly, but hot water bottles are seriously underrated," one said.
If those tips don't help, some joked about moving to a warmer place.
"Live in a outback town in North west Queensland. only cold for about 2 weeks of the year," a man said.
"Flights to Fiji are about $200. That's the cheapest way to stay warm this winter," another joked.
