The $80 Aldi buy so popular it'll be under Christmas trees everywhere

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and now one festive find is chugging its way into homes – and hearts – this holiday season.

ALDI has hit the mark once again with this year's seasonal Special Buys, and its latest product has people flocking to stores all across Australia.

Its now-viral 25th Avenue 45-piece Christmas train set has become this year's unexpected holiday hero – but it won't be available for much longer.

The $79.99 set includes detailed carriages, a looping track and – most impressively – a real steam effect that puffs from the locomotive as it circles your Christmas tree.

The train even emits its own rendition of Jingle Bells – but don't worry, it also comes with three volume settings and the option to mute the music altogether.

But if you're looking to get your hands on one, you'll have to be speedier than Santa Claus' sleigh because the charming train set has been flying off the shelves.

An ALDI spokesperson told 9Honey the response to the train set this year has been "amazing".

"We enjoy bringing new festive creations to the middle aisle each Christmas."

"It's amazing to see shoppers are all aboard with our large Christmas train set!"

They went on to say that while this is a Special Buys limited edition release, they're open to listening to demand.

"We definitely take our customers' feedback into consideration when it comes to bringing favourite products back to shelves."

They recommended buyers use their ALDI Special Buys Stock Checker app to find real-time information on which stores have the sought-after set in stock.

In a now-viral Tiktok, user @bronterose_ unpacks and assembles the sizeable set, with commenters coming out in droves to demand product details.

One joked they "lined up [to buy the set] like it was concert tickets."

"Maybe I should give the 1 year old away for a few months while I go buy this." Another quipped.

One downside to the set, however, is you can't alter the size of the track – making it unsuitable if you're strapped for space.

But good news! If you're either unable to locate stock or unable to fit the whopping 187x127cm track set into your living room, there are plenty of other options available at a similar price point – all of which are in stock now.
