'I meditate every day,' Prince Harry tells Buddhist monk

Meditation is a tool for calm, especially when you're one half of a closely watched royal couple expecting their first baby.

On a royal visit to the English town of Birkenhead, the Duke of Sussex reportedly told a Buddhist monk that he meditates every day.

The Daily Mail reports that the 69-year-old monk, Kelsang Sonam, gifted Prince Harry a copy of his book 8 Steps to Happiness.

Harry may have picked up the meditation habit from his pregnant wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, who joined him on the couple's first royal engagement for 2019.

In 2015, when she was merely known as Suits actress Meghan Markle, the duchess wrote on her now-defunct lifestyle site The Tig that she had become "just happier" after practising meditation daily.

"[She said] 'I’m meditating every day twice a day—it’s wonderful'," the actress's meditation teacher Light Watkins told InStyle. "'Once in the morning for 20 minutes, once in the afternoon for 20 minutes.'"
