Want a workout challenge? Try Michelle Bridges' full-body blaster

An encouraging study came out this week suggesting the benefits of exercise "snacking".

It's not quite as appetising at it sounds: basically, the Canadian researchers determined that even very short bouts of exercise — as short as rapidly ascending three flights of stairs, three times a day — improves your fitness.

Now, that's not to say anyone should swap out exercise for 20-second stair-climbing stint. But it does add to the evidence that you don't have to spend hours slogging away in the gym to get ahead — short, sharp workouts deliver powerful results.

Fitness expert/icon/queen Michelle Bridges runs through one of those workouts in this video, adapted from her online program 12WBT (if you're keen to sign up, the next round starts on Monday, February 4).

The 10-minute workout has two rounds:

Round one

  1. Squats
  2. Lateral lunges
  3. Push-ups
  4. Lower body twists
  5. Scorpion stretch

Round two

Try these more advanced moves, or just double-up on round one:

  • Squats with jump
  • Dynamic lateral lunges
  • Power push-ups
  • Hollow body hold
  • Supermans
  • Spider-Man plank
