Gender reveal goes horribly wrong

An expectant couple has had their gender reveal backfire — quite literally – when a two-piece party popper backfired and hit the dad-to-be square in the groin.

In a video shared to Facebook, the US couple can be seen standing on a back deck at a home in Tennessee while family and friends watch on and film the reveal.

As the family counts down to the reveal, Parker Stuart twists his party popper and it explodes blue powder into the air, indicating the baby is a boy. However, the bottom half then blasts off and flies straight in to his groin, leaving him keeled over on the ground.

Stuard is expecting his first child, a boy, with girlfriend Micah Toombs in November.

Mum-to-be Toombs also shared the video on her Facebook page, joking in her caption, “Guess we’re never having kids again.”

Judging by the comments posted under the video by friends of the couple, it is assumed the pair have a pretty good sense of humour.

“I laughed...way harder than I should’ve!” one says.

“Poor Parker! [Were] you still [conscious] to see the blue smoke through the tears in your eyes?” another adds.

“Note to self: aim canister away from crotch before deploying,” another writes.

Thankfully, Stuard is reported to be okay, although a little sore, and can definitely see the funny side of it.

"I reckon one child will be enough" the dad-to-be laughed in agreeance on Facebook.

This will definitely be uncovered for the little one’s 21^st.
