TV star Fred Sirieix 'bursting with pride' after daughter's bronze medal

British TV presenter Fred Sirieix has shared the joy of being a father to an Olympic medalist.

Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, daughter of Channel 4's First Dates and Million Pound Menu host, took home a bronze medal at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

The young athlete competed in the synchronised diving 10m platform, where she placed third, behind China, who came first, and North Korea, who came second.

Spendolini-Sirieix and partner Lois Toulson earned their Olympic medals during the final round, moving up from fourth to third place with a stunning performance.

The competitor's father was commentating for the BBC during her dive and was moved to his feet with pride.

Following the medal ceremony, Sirieix interviewed his daughter and Toulson. With tears in his eyes, he said, "I mean, what a competition! It's always a rollercoaster with you girls. You really took me around the bend and through the middle. 

"That last dive was spectacular. You knew you had to put it through, and you pulled it back, and it was amazing."

Sireix later posted the dive on social media alongside the caption: "What emotions! What a beautiful moment! How many tears!!!! I'm bursting with pride, joy and happiness.

"Well done, and congrats, @andreassirieix04 and @lois_toulson 🥉🥉."

The proud dad also addressed his followers in an Instagram story, writing: "I'm still crying. Thank you so much for all of your messages. It means a lot. Sorry I can't reply to all. Merci xxx"

Spendolini-Sirieix also shared an Instagram post commemorating the moment: "Thank you, Lois, for helping me grow stronger, more patient, and more resilient.

"To everyone cheering and supporting back home - I cannot express the amount of love and joy I am filled with. This is more than just sport. I am proud to represent my country, my family and glorify the name of Jesus.

"It's not over yet… we have the individual to go through. I will take a few days to decompress and start training again for what will be an exciting few more days of competing," she explained. 

"Again, thank you for all your messages and support. I truly don't believe a thank you is enough - my heart is truly overflowing with love."
